The Long Term Business MLM

My last post was a lot of talk about mlm's not doing what they should and selling the opportunity and not any real services or products. This post today will be the opposite selling products and services with long term business as the goal. I've been working in the industry for quite some time and if you want to have a good long term mlm business you have to have a real product! Reputation is really the reason why you need to have a working and quality product. If your reps and sell without having to rip people off then your business will grow. If you think that really good marketing and smooth sales people can make up for quality then you'll probably start off good then slowly as people catch on your recuits will start to plummit and your leaders will lose faith in you. I've seen this happen more than once in mlm's with great marketing and smooth salespeople as leaders but if you are only in it for quick money you'll fall fast and hard. There are a few ways you can tell if your product is good enough to use for direct sales and I will talk about that in my next post.

Some ways to improve your mlm or start it right.

There is a lot of theory about starting an mlm. A lot of books and articles that go over the little things that can make or break an mlm. But in my view there are only two types. MLMs that focus on the opportunity and MLMs that focus on the product. Lets talk about the first type a little. Big rewards for sign ups and minimal rewards for sales. Selling the opportunity in a lot of cases is the most prone for scam. If you have 4000 people sign up 4000 people so they can sign up 4000 people and the only product or services sold are the ones you forced people to buy at sign up you're the first type. There is an inherent and fatal hole in this plan. Once your market has become saturated and the product or service itself isn't selling you're left with a large group of people that are very angry becuase the dream you sold them was just a fairy tale. This has actually made a lot of people rich doing it this way but usually it isn't a long lasting business venture and it leaves a lot of people hating you and thinking of you as dishonest. My next post I'll talk about the second type the long term business kind of MLM.

Some thoughts

In the MLM field it's more about seperating scams and tricks from actual business opportunity. This field has been slammed with a horrible reputation becuase of the amount of deception many MLM business founders put into their marketing. A real business opportunity without deception that can actually make people money if they work hard not only gets more good attention but also attracts a more trustworthy sales force. If your salesmen don't have to lie about the opportunity then recuiting friends and family won't come with the hefty bill of possible estrangement. The software company I'm working with Ti4Tech (Ti is the table of elements symbol for titanium.) makes software available to solve some of the issues real honest MLM companies have making their opportunity a real lifestyle option for their sales force. Great e-com tools, replicated websites, commisions, they basically have all the enterprise level stuff you need but are still reasonable about their pricing and are willing to scale things down if it's a smaller company. Read up on some of their features here.

A little about myself

My name is Ray Sims, I'm a consultant in the MLM field. I've worked in this field for quite some time and I'm thinking about starting a consultant agency. I plan to post several ideas and theories I have about the field. I've been hired by a mlm software company to work with them to make a great platform for the industry. You can check them out if you want www.ti4tech.com. We've been working on ways to improve the chances of the end user or the actually sales force. We want to make this industry gain back some of it's credibility. Our goal to make MLM business offers work more like the marketing hype that accompanies them. I'll be posting every few days. Any comments would be appreciated.
